DRS 2010 conference in Montreal: Call for abstracts

DRS2010 Conference,
Montreal 7-9 July
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

We invite you to present your research at the 2010  Design Research  Society (DRS) international conference Design & Complexity to be held  July 7-9, 2010 in Montreal (Quebec), Canada.
The theme, Design & Complexity is an springboard for sharing ideas and  concepts about contemporary design research. Contributors are invited  to submit long or short papers that deal with different facets of the  contemporary approaches to design research, education or practice. All  proposals will be independently peer-reviewed by at least two members  of the DRS 2010 scientific comittee.

The ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic
Information Systems 2009 (ACM GIS 2009) is the seventeenth event of a
series of symposia and workshops that began in 1993 with the aim of
bringing together researchers, developers, users, and practitioners
carrying out research and development in novel systems based on
geo-spatial data and knowledge, and fostering interdisciplinary
discussions and research in all aspects of geographic information
systems. The conference provides a forum for original research
contributions covering all conceptual, design, and implementation
aspects of GIS ranging from applications, user interface considerations,
and visualization down to storage management and indexing issues. This
year’s conference builds on last year’s conference great success and on
being the premier annual conference of the ACM Special Interest Group on
Spatial Information (ACM SIGSPATIAL). Researchers, students, and
practitioners are invited to submit their contributions to this year’s
ACM GIS.

3rd Workshop on Behaviour Monitoring and Interpretation Studying Moving Objects in a Three-Dimensional World (BMI Geo3D’09)
Co-located with GeoInfo3D in Ghent, Belgium, 3rd Nov. 2009

Workshop Issues
In the last decade, many technologies have been devised to obtain information about the motion behaviour of people, among others by GPS, GSM, RFID, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, ZigBee and video-technologies. Based upon such technologies, this workshop aims to focus on the high-level representation and interpretation of the monitored behaviours in3D. This concerns primarily the spatial and spatiotemporal aspects of such behaviours, including:
• the monitoring of moving objects, in particular movement in outdoor and indoor spaces
• methods for analysing and interpreting locomotion behaviours
• the consideration of locomotion behaviours of either single objects or of groups of objects
• the modelling of spatial and spatiotemporal aspects of locomotion behaviours
• the relationship between psychological and formal conceptualisations of moving objects
• the dealing of moving objects with natural language/linguistics
• the comparison of work about moving objects from researchers from different disciplines
• applications and related areas that require the consideration of moving objects
